Veiga da Princesa

 

An authentic farm Albariño. The Vineyard was planted in 2002 after two years of collecting more than 200 small farms plot by plot and more than 70 different owners; a clear reflection of the Galician “smallholding”. The chosen cultivation is Albariño trellis cultivation for more airy, sun-kissed and less acidic grapes than those obtained with other methods such as trained vines. Additionally, the vineyard avoids many the phytosanitary treatments applied in other subareas of the Appellation of Origin.

The Winery

The Winery is located in Arbo, Pontevedra; where we produce and bottle our wines with the most advanced techniques, carefully cleaning throughout the process and with the maximum respect for the Albariño variety.

The concept of this winery is “Vino de Pago” or wine made exclusively with grapes provided by a single estate or property, the high quality is due to the professional management of the vineyard and its uniformed quality.

The vineyard

In Rías Baixas A. O. we got a vineyard with a total of 18 ha and 15 years old dedicated to Albariño variety. this vineyard is the base where we elaborate our Albariño Veiga da Princesa.

The vineyard is planted on a novel and unique single trellis driving system, opposed to the typical arbor system of the area, which gives us an important differentiation in quality.

Rías Baixas Apellation of Origin

Rías Baixas is mainly located in the province of Pontevedra, in the southwest of Galicia, at an average altitude of 50 m above sea level and with a notably Atlantic climate. The soil is basically acidic and of granite composition. The grape variety used is almost entirely of the Albariño variety.

It was recognised as an Appellation of Origin at the end of the 80s and from that day has been the first and most well-known white wine A.O. in Spain.

A Unión Europea, a través do Fondo Europeo Agrícola de Desenvolvemento Rural (Feader), apoia a realización dun proxecto da empresa Bodega y Viñedos Veiga da Princesa S.L.
consistente en adquisición de catro depósitos de aceiro inox, marcador de caixas, filtro amicróbico con bomba e capsuladora de tapon rosca, cun investimento de 62587,70 euros, para o que se lle concedeu unha axuda pública total de 19766,85 euros (o 75% financiada polo Feader). Con este proxecto a empresa pretende mellorar o proceso de embotellado e ampliara capacidade de elaboración.
