Torre Do Olivar Expresion is a Ribeiro wine made solely from Treixadura grapes from our Torre do Olivar vineyard.
We can call this wine a Estate Wine because the grapes come from only one vineyard, providing a homogeneous harvest influenced by similar soil and climate characteristics, clearly reflecting the estate’s unique characteristics.
Torre Do Olivar covers 110,000 m² of land on terraces on a hillside in the Ribera del Miño region of Ourense. The soils are clayey over sedimentary schist, and the climate is clearly influenced by the Atlantic with warm summers.
The vineyard was planted in 2002, although there are records of vine cultivation on the estate dating back to the early 20th century.
The Torre do Olivar or Torre de Puga served as a defensive element for Pazo de Puga, as its 180-meter height overlooks part of the Miño Valley and the entrance to the Barbantiño River Valley. It also overlooks the road that connected the city of Ourense to the north and the Atlantic coast.
The Treixadura grape is the dominant variety in Ribeiro wine and produces fresh wines with aromas of fresh fruit (apple, stone fruit, etc.) and a light floral component, with a fresh acidity that invites continued drinking and a very pleasant aftertaste.
The grapes are harvested manually into small 15-kg boxes. The bunches are double-selected in the vineyard and at the winery. They are then pressed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine then remains in contact with the lees for approximately 5 months before bottling.
