Alma de Tinto Mencia y Arauxa wine with Monterrei Designation of Origin. Intense red color, very clean and bright.
Very frank and intense aroma of red fruits. On the palate, it is fresh and very flavorful, with an elegant aftertaste. Best Galician Red Wine, Euskadi Sommeliers’ Union, June 2007.
Alma de Tinto Mencia y Arauxa wine is made with Mencia and Arauxa (Tempranillo) grapes from selected vineyards throughout the Monterrei Valley. Different soils, from sandy granitic to sedimentary schist, produce distinct wines that contribute different nuances to our wine.
The grapes are harvested in small 15 kg crates, immediately transported to the winery, and processed into stainless steel tanks where they undergo skin maceration for a week. This is followed by alcoholic fermentation at a temperature of 27°C for approximately 15 days. Subsequent racking, then aging in the tank prior to bottling completes the process.
Our Alma de Tinto has a clear and bright cherry red color of medium intensity. Aromatically, it presents a high intensity with notable varietal frankness (cherry, currant, licorice), with good structure in the mouth and no harshness (acidity) but with a clear varietal freshness. It pairs perfectly with white meats, tapas, barbecues, or as an aperitif.
